White's next project is a bit out of the "Age of Sail" Genre: it will deal with the trials and tribulations of a Merchant Marine sailor during the Second World War. Those who made the Atlantic run, early in the war, were heroes, facing extremely hazardous conditions brought on by adverse weather, enemy aircraft, and, of course, submarines. Of all the organized services in WWII, the Merchant Navy was only second behind the U.S. Marine Corps in losses as a percentage of total personnel. For this effort, Mister White will be joined by his son Joshua T. White as co-author. Joshua is a professional historian and teacher, not to mention a fine writer.
